Revel Custom Pickups is a one man shop specializing in hand-wound electric guitar pickups. My goal, from the start, was to help working class players afford the boutique pickup experience. I still maintain this ideal as much as I am able.
I think too much money is spent on pickups made in Asian countries under unknown and questionable working environments. To that end I go to great lengths to source all of my parts from U.S. manufacturers.
I pride myself on being honest about pickups. I don’t use nonsense tales about special alloys and magical magnets and recently discovered winding patterns to market myself and I won’t use them to get your business.
My pickups are built by hand, one at a time, and only by me. The pickups I offer for sale have been developed over years of ‘fine tuning’ & testing from practice to performance. I consider each one a custom work of art.
I often consult with players to help them create something truly custom: a one of a kind combination of materials and winds. Contact me to discuss custom options.

HANDWOUND & SCATTERWOUND PICKUPS
I handwind the majority of my coils. I find this approach to pickup winding to be superior to machine winding and production. And scatterwinding can only be done by someone who really knows what they are doing and why to do it. It takes a lot of time and concentration but produces far superior tone and richer harmonic voice.
HANDMADE, CUSTOM, WINDING MACHINES
Even my machinery is hand-crafted. You can’t buy my equipment. My winders are the products of many other machines that came before. My Retro P.A.F. winder is a meticulous creation that mimics the finest aspects of the old mechanical winders used by Gibson. They are wonderful, one of a kind, creations – just like the pickups I wind with them.
CUSTOM PICKUPS BUILT TO ORDER
At Revel Pickups, handwound means handwound and custom means custom.
